Coronavirus is continuously spreading and causing a serious issue to public health globally as per World Health Organization (WHO). Most viral epidemics have been recorded from 2002 like the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-CoV), H1N1 influenza, Middle East respiratory syndrome coronavirus (MERS-CoV).
Nowadays a new low respiratory epidemic has been recorded which is detected from Wuhan, China on December 31st, 2019 now it has affected the public globally. Initially, it was recognized as pneumonia and the experts were unable to identify the causative agent. It has been now announced that the diseases by the CoV as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by WHO Director-General.
We have recorded two CoV epidemics:
SARS-CoV (Began from China)
MERS-CoV (Began from Saudi Arabia)
COVID-19 is highly contagious and is spreading globally from one person to another easily and this outbreak by the WHO announced this virus as Pandemic.
They are the large family of (+ssRNA) single-stranded RNA viruses that isolated from different animal species and can cause illness from the common cold to more severe diseases like SARS and MERS. This virus is originated from bats and spreaded to camels and humans. This has become a serious issue globally and declared as a very high-level threat causing death and lockdown in the countries. Cases of these viruses have been recorded in every country with many death and active cases of COVID-19.
At these moments Doctors, Nurses, Researchers, health organizations are working tirelessly to cure the patients and finding a vaccine for this viral disease.
The COVID cases in china have reduced but at the same time the cases have been increased drastically in Italy, Spain, Iran, the US and the spread of this virus is still going on.
Highlights:
- WHO declares COVID-19 as a Public Health Emergency.
- COVID-19 is potentially a zoonotic virus as per the phylogenetic analysis
- To reduce COVID-19 special attention is important.
According to WHO, do five things to help stop COVID-19:
- Hand wash often for 20 seconds with alcohol-based hand rub or soap and water
- Use your Elbow while coughing if you don’t have a handkerchief.
- Don’t touch your face often
- Keep distance with others (1 meter or 3 feet)
- Stay at your home.
ADVICE: Please don’t touch your nose, eyes or mouth if your hands are not clean.
